Scary Slick Stuff

I thought that we wouldn't have any school today, but I wasn't prepared to see the little bit of snow that we got. I would have thought that with this little snow, we would have started late. It must be a lot more up in the hills. You will be amazed when I post the picture to see how little snow it really is. So, I get to stay at home and spend some time with the family and finish grading some papers, what fun! I am headed to the gym now, time to burn some calories. This will be a good week, I'll be able to stay for at least two hours today.

Idiot Brain

You may be wondering about the title of this post. Not for long! The other day my wife was getting ready to go babysit and she let the dogs in to get a drink of water. Big mistake! Our male dog Zane(hereafter referred to as Idiot Brain), was being escorted away from the water because he drinks too much and then pukes. I guess he took exception to this and decided to take it out on Miyah. My wife took one of our nice kitchen chairs and broke it up. Now the chair needs to be fixed. You can still sit in it, but the support piece underneath that helps to keep the legs straight is broken. Now Idiot Brain will have to wear his muzzle when he's inside. What an idiot!

One less

About three months ago we had to put our oldest dog, a Black and Tan Coonhound mix too sleep because she had cancer. This was a hard thing to do, but she really had no chance, even though they wanted us to spend all this money on treatment. Now we are left with two. More recently, a few weeks after we put her to sleep, our male dog got in a fight with our female dog and my wife tried to break it up and she got bit. Had to go to the hospital and they did surgery to flush the bone where it had been "dented". The were worried about a bone infection. We bought some dog boots which are very useful in certain conditions and long walks, but not used much. We also got dog coats and these are very worthwhile. They work well to keep the rain off and the dogs stay warmer, they even wear them inside, which keeps down the amount of hair everywhere. We recently had both of them fixed and the male's dewclaws removed, unfortunately the stitches didn't hold very well so hopefully they don't get infected. Here is a pic of our two dogs in their coats at my in-laws house where they used them to keep warm in all the snow.

Well behaved

I just got the tritronics Sport combo G3 dog collars for all three of my dogs. They work great. It definitely makes things easier. The dogs listen much better now.

Boys will be boys

Our male APBT Zane seems to have a problem with sharing his bones. Miyah, our female APBT, we got as a stray an no one claimed her in the paper, no microchip, etc. She seems to think that all the bones are hers and so she will immediately claim any bones left laying around and sometimes even take some from the other two dogs. Well, Zane doesn't like this and so he fights with her and with our other dog Siren if he thinks they are coming after his bone. Now we have to make sure that they are separated when bones are present. What a pain in the butt! Now we have to have two separate places for dogs. Good thing it's summer and they can stay outside. Anyone else out there who likes to hike with their dogs? We'd love to see some pictures of you and your dogs hiking! I'll post some here soon.
